Purple Swurl

Believe it or not, this classic swirl cake was actually my first paid order! The customer requested a small uncomplicated cake that had the colours purple and white. She had previously seen a cake that I had done that had the same purple and white swirls and asked if I can do the same technique to cover the entire cake. These specific multicolored swirls were extremely easy to do because I had the Wilton ColourSwirl 3-Colour Coupler Set.

This set contains 4 pieces, three interlocking couplers that allow you to connect up to three different colored icing bags. As seen in the picture to the right, the three white couplers all connect together and can be held together with the purple ring, with a large piping tip between them. Note that not all piping tips can be used, in fact only large ones can be used such as 1M, 1A, 2C or 4B.
The multi colour swirls can be a bit difficult to use at first because this method of piping is different than the usual way, but after a bit of practice you can produce beautiful multi colored swirls in all sorts of shapes and patterns. For more detailed instructions on how to use this coupler, watch this video.
For this specific cake, I used the colors dark purple, lavender purple and pure white. The combination of the three colours came our perfectly and didn't blend together (which could happen if you tried to do multi colour swirls in one bag) I used the icing tip 336 to make these swirls and between the swirls to fill in the little empty spaces I made small stars (using the same tip) to make the cake seem more complete. Good luck making this cake and feel free to contact me if you would like to order it or if you have any questions!
